Robbie Mak represents the best of Slovakia and England. Moving to Manchester at the age of 13, he’s become part of a Slovakian takeover of the City academy with Filip Mentel and Vladimir Weiss. Unlike his compatriots, he wasn’t sourced from abroad, but he still carries a level of talent to take him to the top. He’s won the FA Youth Cup in 2008, scoring key goals along the way, affecting games with his searing pace.
He’s on the short side but like most smaller strikers can compensate for that in the usual ways – pace, skill, dribbling and elusiveness. Playing in an attacking City team he gets his fair share of chances and is one of the team’s best finishers. He’s chosen to represent Slovakia at youth level, despite being, as his youth coaches have described him, “an adopted Mancunian”.
Robbie has continued in fine goalscoring form for a strong Manchester City team, pushing into Reserve team football and should look to press on this year.
