Jason Steele signs new three-year deal at Middlesbrough

6 05 2009

steeledealMiddlesbrough have confirmed this week that highly-rated young goalkeeper Jason Steele has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at the Riverside Stadium for three years.

The 18 year-old England youth international was offered the deal a few weeks ago and agreed to sign it almost immediately, with only paperwork holding up the official announcement. It secures Boro a safe future in goal, and with potential relegation to the Championship on the cards and an uncertain situation in goal with neither Brad Jones nor Ross Turnbull having covered themselves in glory this season, there is every chance the impressive Steele can now press on and stake a claim for the starting gloves next season, regardless of which division the club may play in.
