City finish fourth in Dallas

Jim Cassell’s youngsters finished fourth in the XXX Dallas Cup, which has been taking place over the past week. After an impressive group stage, City fell at the Semi Final stage on penalty kicks to Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo after a 0-0 draw, before losing the 3rd/4th playoff to Germans Eintracht Frankfurt.

Confidence was high after three wins in a row in their group, but Sao Paulo were impressive opposition and held the usually prolific Citizens to a goalless game. Coming down to a penalty shootout, City lost 4-2.

In Saturday’s playoff, they fell again to Eintracht Frankfurt, themselves defeated by the Vancouver Whitecaps.
