Manchester City’s academy have travelled to Texas to take part in the 30th annual Dallas Cup alongside such world-class names as Sao Paulo, River Plate, and AC Milan. It was against the Italians that Jim Cassel’s team kicked off their tournament, and it was with some style.
City, having a wonderful domestic season, swept Milan aside, beating them 4-0 at Pizza Hut Park Stadium. Alex Nimely-Tchuimeni opened the scoring in the first half with a lob from a long Kieran Trippier pass, and they went to town in the second half. Slovakian striker Robbie Mak added a quickfire brace at the start of the second period including a penalty he won himself, and after the Rossoneri had a man sent off James Poole rounded off the rout. The Citizens continue their tournament this week against Tigres of Mexico and Canada’s Toronto FC.
