Monday saw a slew of Reserve action in England where Federico Macheda of Manchester United was the standout, whilst Chelsea’s Miroslav Stoch was drafted into Slovakia’s full squad for their World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
Slovakia were absolutely dire in defeat to England at Wembley on Saturday and in what will be a crucial match atop Group 3 in Prague, Stoch has been called up from the Under-20 squad. The 19 year-old has two caps to date, making his debut last month against the Ukraine.
A full Reserve round-up will follow on Tuesday, but it’s worth noting Macheda’s hat-trick on its own. The Italian hitman moved onto 18 goals for the season by scoring all of the goals in United’s 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park. After opening the scoring with a penalty on 13 minutes he was on hand to peg the Magpies back on two occasions to earn a deserved point.
